The Simply Music method
At Keys of Joy, we use the Simply Music method — one of the most acclaimed piano teaching programs in the world. In the same way we all learn to speak years before we learn to read and spell, Simply Music temporarily delays music reading and immerses students in the experience of playing great-sounding music immediately.
We do this by introducing students to an array of unique playing-based concepts that unfold directly onto the keyboard. The result is that students quickly, easily, and naturally build a solid foundation of 35 to 50 beautiful pieces — typically within the first year of lessons.
Thereafter, our unique approach to music reading is introduced. Our students become strong readers, and we love our approach of how we teach students to read. We also love the fact that we don't introduce reading from the very beginning — it's the future of music education, and it's a far more natural approach.
What to expect
Within your first two or three lessons you'll be playing a real, recognizable song — not exercises. Actual music you'll be proud to share.
Build a growing repertoire spanning multiple styles — many students reach 35–50 pieces within their first year. Music reading begins when you're ready.
Expand into improvisation, composition, and songwriting. Every lesson builds on the last — music becomes a lifelong companion.
Play for friends and family in our beautiful piano lounge, equipped with a Steinway grand piano.
